Deactivated cell phones are required to still work for emergency 911 calls
Deactivated phones are required to still work for emergency 911 calls and there is no charge for making such a call. This might seem like a good deal, but the 911 call-takers do not recommend this, as they receive no information about the caller -- such as location.
